Jamaica’s AI Revolution: Amber Group Leads

Jamaica stands on the edge of a technological transformation. At the heart of this change is the Amber Group, one of the island’s most distinguished technology companies. Recently, Amber Group announced a bold new direction: making artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics the center of its strategy for the next decade. This marks more than just a move in step with international trends—it signals Jamaica’s determination to lead Caribbean innovation.

Charting a New Future

Amber Group’s upcoming 10th anniversary is a turning point. CEO Dushyant Savadia has outlined a clear vision of progress through three forms of artificial intelligence: generative AI, conversational AI, and physical AI—the latter being autonomous robots that can work on their own. This path isn’t just about advanced technology; it’s about reimagining how core industries like manufacturing, logistics, finance, healthcare, hospitality, and public services can operate, both in Jamaica and throughout the Caribbean.

A highlight of Amber’s vision is the launch of Amber Robotics. This new division is developing intelligent machines designed to work alongside people. These robots aim to improve productivity, accuracy, and safety. Commercial and home use of these machines is expected to start by 2026, opening new opportunities for Jamaican industry and daily life.

Linking Hands with Global and Local Partners

To speed up this technological leap, Amber Group has formed agreements with leading robotics companies around the world. This means that Jamaica will soon have access to some of the best technology available. At the same time, Amber Group is making sure this growth benefits the wider community—profits from these ventures will be reinvested into community projects and Jamaica’s tech infrastructure. This approach is closely connected to government goals, aligning Amber Group’s work with the country’s drive for national growth and global competitiveness.

A central part of this plan is the new National AI Lab. Created with partners such as the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech), HEART/NSTA Trust, and the Ministry of Education, the lab aims to become a regional hub for AI research and education. Amber Group is supporting this laboratory with almost two million US dollars to provide the latest computing technology. The lab’s mission is to empower Jamaicans to design AI solutions for both local needs and global markets—helping reduce reliance on foreign tech, and creating new opportunities for Jamaica to earn foreign income.

Lifting Education and Society

Amber Group’s commitment goes beyond business. The company is bringing AI into Jamaican classrooms through the Jamaica Learning Assistant, an AI-powered learning platform made with the Ministry of Education. This tool is carefully tailored for Jamaican students. It understands local accents, recognizes the island’s culture, and allows students to learn at their own pace. This is part of a wider movement—supported by Prime Minister Andrew Holness—to teach AI skills from an early age, giving the next generation the tools to create, not just use, new technology.

Amber Group also continues to invest in training young professionals through the Amber HEART NSTA Coding Academy. Hundreds of Jamaicans are being prepared for jobs in fast-growing technology fields, creating a new pipeline of talent and building a more innovative, skilled workforce.

Meeting National Ambitions

These moves are woven into Jamaica’s broader aim to use technology as a springboard for growth. Prime Minister Holness has called on Jamaicans to embrace AI and new technologies. With initiatives like the National AI Lab, the country is laying the path for broad tech literacy and innovative leadership across all sectors.

A New Chapter Begins

Amber Group’s journey is about much more than technology. It is about ensuring that the benefits of these advances reach every Jamaican household and every aspiring young person. By investing in AI, robotics, education, and community projects, Amber Group is not just following a trend—it is helping Jamaica shift from being a technology consumer to a technology creator.

As CEO Savadia declared, this moment is not just about the past; it’s about declaring where Jamaica is heading—a future where technology has the power to uplift every dream. With strong partnerships, deep local investment, and a focus on developing Jamaican talent, Amber Group’s embrace of AI and robotics could open a new era of prosperity and opportunity for the entire nation.
