Exwayz Leads GPS-Free Robotic Navigation

In a remarkable advance for autonomous robotics, French deeptech startup Exwayz has secured €1 million in new funding. This investment, led by CentraleSupélec Venture, will accelerate their mission to deliver precise GPS-free navigation technology to the world.

A New Era of Navigation

Founded in 2021 by Hassan Bouchiba, Mathias Corsia, and Antoine Plat, Exwayz is redefining what’s possible for autonomous systems. Their core technology, called Exwayz SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), allows robots and vehicles equipped with 3D LiDAR sensors to know exactly where they are—down to the centimetre—even in places where GPS doesn’t work.

Why GPS-Free Navigation Matters

Many of the world’s busiest and most challenging environments don’t always allow a clear satellite signal. Ports, factories, warehouses, tunnels, and dense city streets often block or disrupt GPS. Yet these are the very places where reliable autonomous navigation is urgently needed. Exwayz SLAM steps in to fill this gap, giving robots a way to move, work, and even collaborate safely and efficiently, no matter how difficult the surroundings.

Proven Technology in the Real World

This technology is more than a promising idea—it’s already working at scale. In Switzerland, the autonomous truck company Embotech uses Exwayz SLAM for precise navigation. Soon, a fleet of thirty Embotech trucks powered by Exwayz will operate at the Port of Rotterdam, making container handling safer and more efficient.

Meanwhile in the United States, mapping company Cyvl.ai relies on Exwayz to chart accurate road maps across more than 200 cities. This demonstrates the technology’s reliability in large and complex urban environments, and its ability to handle real-world challenges every day.

Backed by Visionaries

Exwayz’s €1 million funding round is more than a boost for growth—it’s a strong vote of confidence in the vision and the people behind the technology. The team welcomes strategic guidance from industry veterans like Yves Bonnefont, former executive at Stellantis, who has joined as a non-executive advisor. With new resources and leadership, Exwayz is poised to expand its partnerships and integrate its ground-breaking software into more autonomous fleets worldwide.

Shaping the Future of Robotics

By enabling centimetre-accurate positioning without relying on satellites, Exwayz is unlocking new opportunities for a range of autonomous machines. Delivery robots, inspection vehicles, self-driving trucks, and other smart machines can now navigate vast warehouses, winding tunnels, and dense port terminals. These advances will reshape logistics, industrial safety, urban mobility, and critical inspection tasks, making each safer and more efficient.

The ambition goes further: Exwayz is laying the foundation for autonomous systems to thrive in places that were once inaccessible or hazardous due to unreliable GPS signals. Their approach ensures safety and reliability, giving robotics and autonomous vehicles a new level of independence and precision.

A Milestone for the Industry

Exwayz’s recent financing highlights the growing recognition that robust, GPS-free navigation is essential for the next generation of robotics. Their LiDAR-based 3D SLAM software offers the precision and flexibility needed for robots to take on complex tasks across industries, no matter the level of GPS availability.

As the landscape of robotics expands, Exwayz stands out as a beacon of innovation. Their work draws from deep technical expertise and is driven by the promise that autonomous systems can transform how we move, work, and connect in the most demanding environments. This is not just technological progress—it’s a step forward for the entire world of autonomy.
