Air New Zealand Flight 901: a silent waypoint change put 257 people on a track into Mount Erebus

Air New Zealand Flight TE901's southernmost waypoint was corrected in the airline's ground computer hours before departure on 28 November 1979, shifting the DC-10's automatic navigation track onto Mount Erebus; the crew were never told, and all 257 people aboard died.
